CoolSculpting FAQs
Am I A Good Candidate For The CoolSculpting Procedure?
A good candidate is someone with stubborn fat deposits in concentrated areas, such as the hips and thighs, and is in good general health.
How Long Is Each Treatment? How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Each CoolSculpting treatment lasts between 35 minutes and 60 minutes, but this may vary based on the number of areas treated during your visit. Before treatment begins, you and your Advanced Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center dermatologist will determine how many treatments will be necessary to achieve your goals.
Can The CoolSculpting Procedure Reduce Fat Anywhere On My Body?
Generally no. CoolSculpting treats fat deposits and visible fat bulges in the chin, thighs, front and back of the torso, under the buttocks, and upper arm.
I Don’t Like My Double Chin. Can The CoolSculpting Procedure Help Me Lose It?
Yes. Patients with a double chin can reduce fat with CoolSculpting which also improves neck contours. Most patients see a reduction in a double chin after one treatment.
Where Does The Fat Go? Are The Results Permanent?
Once targeted fat cells are frozen, they are removed from the body through the natural elimination process. Because the fat cells can’t return, the results of your CoolSculpting treatment are mostly permanent. The remaining fat cells can increase in volume if you gain weight after the procedure.
What Does It Feel Like?
Most patients experience cool tingling sensations when the procedure begins followed by numbness in the treated area as freezing begins. Some patients have reported minor bruising, redness, and/or swelling after treatment which quickly fades.
Is The CoolSculpting Procedure Safe?
Yes. This non-surgical procedure was first approved for use by the FDA in 2010 and has been used by millions of patients globally since then.
Who Should Not Have The CoolSculpting Procedure?
Patients with cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria shouldn’t receive CoolSculpting treatments.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Side effects from a CoolSculpting treatment vary for patients and are generally minor. Reported side effects include temporary bruising, redness, swelling, and skin sensitivity at the treatment site.
Can I Return To Normal Activities After My Treatment?
Yes. Many patients schedule a treatment during the work week and return to work immediately after the appointment.
I’ve Had My CoolSculpting Procedure. Now What?
Schedule a follow-up appointment with Advanced Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center. During the follow-up appointment, your Boardman dermatologist will discuss your results and whether additional treatment is needed to accomplish your goals. After the follow-up appointment, it’s important to eat a healthy diet and partake in regular exercise to support the permanent results of CoolSculpting.
When Will I See Results?
Some results may be visible within 3 weeks to 4 weeks, but complete results are apparent 2 months after the procedure. You may notice slight but continued results up to 6 months afterward.
Do I Need To Take Special Supplements Or Follow A Strict Diet And Exercise Program?
No. But you can support the results of CoolSculpting, by maintaining a healthy lifestyle which includes eating a nutritional diet and participating in regular exercise.
What Happens If I Gain Weight After My CoolSculpting Procedure?
It’s possible the stubborn fat deposits will return in the areas targeted by CoolSculpting. Or, the weight gain could be distributed to other fat cells in the body. Remember, fat cells expand in volume which creates the physical appearance of fat.
